1/2 cup butter or margerine
2 cups granulated sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
12 large marshmallows
dash of salt
1 (6 ounce) package cherry chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups finely chopped peanuts
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
Combine butter or margerine, sugar, evaporated milk, marshmallows, and salt in saucepan. Bring to a boil, and boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cherry chips and vanilla, stirring until well blended. Pour into a buttered 13 x 9-inch baking pan and chill for 2 hours. Melt hocolate chips and add the chopped peanuts and peanut butter. Stir until well blended. Spread evenly over the top of the first layer. Chill until firm, then cut into bite-size size squares.

This recipe is FANTASTIC! Since cherry chip no longer exist, I did one batch with peanut butter chips and another batch with mint chips. Both were a huge hit with family and this is something that is so easy I will be making this one every year.
PS. if you know where I can find cherry chips please email me.

I thought that this was going to be fun until after following everything to a tee, the consistency was all wrong. It stayed mushy and I had no idea what I had done wrong. I thought it was just me, but I had me friend duplicate the same thing (sent her the recipe) and she too, got the same mushy affect. Boo!

When I got to the step of cutting the bars, the cherry part was mushy and didn't keep its form. I had to throw it all away. I have no idea what I did wrong. I followed the recipe and the instructions.

I couldn't find the cherry chips, but I got into my candy supplies and found red vanilla flavored chips and added cherry flavoring to them! PERFECT!!

Great and have made them twice! Reminded me of what my mom made for Christmas every year. Tastes better than the actual Bing Candybar!

I use this recipe but increase marshmallows to 20 and instead of cherry chips which were not available where I was I used white almond bark (12 oz) and added 1 package of dry cherry kool-aid. My family prefers this modification of original recipe.

I have been making this particular recipe for about 10 years! I make it every year during the holidays and it's always a big hit. The taste is smooth and creamy and is very easy to make. Looks great in gift baskets!
